Passivation is a chemical treatment used after suitable cleaning to support the natural corrosion-resistant surface condition of stainless steel. It is applied to shafts, valve bodies, fittings, manifolds, brackets, and other stainless parts without adding a decorative color coating.

The process does not remove major heat tint, weld scale, deep contamination, or scratches. Fabrication cleanup, alloy compatibility, cleanliness, and the required standard should be reviewed before treatment.
